  • Portrait of First Lady Jane Pierce with required inscriptions for the order of the Presidency “14th” and years of the term “1853-1857″.
  • Designed by Donna Weaver and sculpted by Don Everhart.

Reverse:

  • Scene of Jane Pierce seated in the visitor’s gallery of te U.S. Capitol Building where she would listen to Senate debates.
  • Designed by Donna Weaver and sculpted by Charles Vickers.

Coin Details:

  • First Spouse Gold Coins contain one-half ounce of .9999 fine (24 karat) gold.
  • Proof and uncirculated versions of the coin will be produced at the West Point Mint with “W” mint mark.
  • Estimated release date June 2010.

Where to Find:

  • Jane Pierce First Spouse Gold Coins will be offered for sale to directly to collectors by the United States Mint.
  • Pricing will be based on the average weekly price of gold.

History:

  • Authorized by a section of  Public Law 109-145 The Presidential $1 Coin Act of 2005.
  • First Spouse Coins were first issued in 2007, with four or five coins issued each subsequent year.
  • Designs for the 2010 First Spouse Gold Coins were released by the United States Mint on December 21, 2009.
