2010 James Buchanan Presidential Dollar

Obverse:

  • Portrait of James Buchanan with inscriptions indicating “15th President” and the years of the term “1857-1861″.
  • Designed and sculpted by Phebe Hemphill.

Reverse:

  • Rendition of the Statue of Liberty to symbolize the concept of Liberty.
  • Designed and sculpted by Don Everhart.

Coin Details:

  • Coins are composed of a core of pure copper and an outer layer of 77% copper, 12% zinc, 7% manganese, and 4% nickel.
  • The James Buchanan Dollar will be issue for circulation and as collectible proof and uncirculated coins issued by the United States Mint.
  • Circulation release date is currently scheduled for August 19, 2010.
  • The edge of the coin includes incused lettering which indicates the year of issue, mint mark, and motto “E Pluribus Unum”.

Where to Find:

  • The coins will be released into circulation beginning August 19, 2010.
  • The collectible versions will be included in annual sets and special products offered by the United States Mint.
  • The Mint will also issue offer 25-coin rolls of circulation strike coins to collectors.
