2010 Native American Dollar

Obverse:

  • Features a portrait of Sacagawea by Glenna Goodacre.
  • This design was originally used on the Sacagawea Dollar series from 2000-2008 and was adapted for the Native American Dollar series starting in 2009.

Reverse:

  • Features the Hiawatha Belt. This is a visual record of the Haudenosaunee or Iroquois Confederacy. The figures on the belt and the five arrows represent the Onondaga, Mohawk, Oneida, Cayuga, and Seneca Nations.
  • Designed by Thomas Cleveland and engraved by Charles L. Vickers.

Coin Details:

  • The coins have a core of pure copper and outer layer composed of 77% copper, 12% zinc, 7% manganese, and 4% nickel.
  • The 2010 Native American Dollar will be produced at the Philadelphia and Denver Mints for circulation with proof versions produced at the San Francisco Mint.

Where to Find:

  • The coins have been released into the channels of circulation.
  • The United States Mint offers 2010 Native American Dollars through their Direct Ship Program and numismatic bags and rolls program. The Direct Ship coins are available at face value for 250 coin boxes. The numismatic rolls are priced at a premium.
  • Collectible proof and uncirculated (satin finish) versions will also be issued by the US Mint in annual coin sets.
