2010 Lincoln Penny

Obverse:

  • Features a portrait of Abraham Lincoln designed by Victor D. Brenner.
  • Details of the original 1909 Lincoln Cent obverse design have been restored.

Reverse:

  • Features the Union Shield. This shield has thirteen vertical stripes joined by a single horizontal bar with the words “E Pluribus Unum”. This symbolizes the original thirteen states joined in support of the federal government.
  • Designed by Lyndall Bass and engraved by Joseph Menna.

Coin Details:

  • The 2010 Lincoln Cent will have a composition of 97.5% zinc and 2.5% copper.
  • Circulation strikes and satin finish versions produced at the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. Proof versions produced at the San Francisco Mint.

Where to Find:

  • The coins have already been released into circulation at some locations.
  • The United States Mint hosted an official launch ceremony and coin exchange on February 11, 2010 in Springfield, Illinois. Approximately one thousand people were in attendance.
  • The United States Mint will issue the collectible proof and uncirculated (satin finish) versions within the annual coin sets. A two roll set containing one 50-coin roll of Philadelphia Mint coins and one 50-coin roll of Denver Mint coins is also expected to be offered to collectors.
